Payment Policy
Effective Date: July 1, 2026
Last Updated: July 12, 2026
At Merrlane, we are committed to providing customers with a secure, clear, and transparent payment experience.
This Payment Policy explains the payment methods available on Merrlane.com, when payments are authorized or charged, how pricing and taxes are displayed, how payment verification may be conducted, and how payment-related issues are handled.
Accepted Payment Methods
Merrlane may accept the following payment methods when displayed as available during checkout:
-
Visa
-
Mastercard
-
American Express
-
Discover
-
PayPal
-
Google Pay
-
Shop Pay
The payment methods available for an individual order may depend on the customer’s device, browser, location, payment-provider eligibility, and current checkout configuration.
The payment methods displayed during checkout are the methods currently available for that order.
All purchases made through Merrlane.com are processed in U.S. Dollars.
Customers should not send payment through any method that is not displayed during checkout or expressly confirmed through an official Merrlane communication channel.
Payment Authorization and Charges
When an order is submitted, the selected payment method may be authorized or charged according to the rules of the applicable bank, card issuer, digital wallet, or payment provider.
Depending on the payment method, a customer may initially see:
-
A payment authorization
-
A pending transaction
-
A completed charge
-
A temporary verification hold
A pending authorization is not necessarily a second or completed charge. The timing for an authorization to become a completed charge, or for an unused authorization to be released, is determined by the customer’s financial institution or payment provider.
After an order is submitted, Merrlane will send an order acknowledgment or confirmation email containing a summary of the purchase.
This automated email confirms that the order has been received. Final acceptance remains subject to payment authorization, inventory availability, fraud review, shipping eligibility, and the order terms described in the Merrlane Terms of Service.
If you do not receive an order email after completing checkout, please:
-
Check your spam or junk folder
-
Confirm that the email address provided at checkout was correct
-
Review your payment account for transaction status
-
Contact support@merrlane.com
Billing Information
Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate:
-
Billing name
-
Billing address
-
Shipping address
-
Email address
-
Telephone number
-
Payment information
-
Other information reasonably required to process the order
The billing information provided should correspond to the information recognized by the applicable bank or payment provider.
Incorrect or incomplete billing information may cause payment authorization to fail or may delay order processing.
Customers should contact Merrlane promptly if they discover an error in their billing or contact information.
Secure Payment Processing
Merrlane uses established ecommerce technology and third-party payment providers to process customer transactions.
Payment information submitted through checkout is transmitted using industry-standard encryption and security technology.
Merrlane does not directly store complete payment card numbers, card security codes, or complete digital-wallet credentials on its own servers.
Payment providers may collect, process, retain, and protect payment information according to their own terms, security standards, and privacy policies.
No electronic payment or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Merrlane nevertheless uses commercially reasonable safeguards designed to protect transaction information.
Pricing
All product prices displayed on Merrlane.com are shown in U.S. Dollars unless expressly stated otherwise.
Before submitting an order, customers will have an opportunity to review:
-
Product prices
-
Applied discounts
-
Applicable sales tax
-
Shipping charges, if any
-
Optional delivery-service charges selected by the customer
-
The final order total
The final amount displayed before the customer submits the order represents the amount authorized for payment, subject only to adjustments expressly permitted under this policy or applicable law.
Merrlane will not add undisclosed merchant fees after an order has been submitted.
Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax is calculated during checkout according to the shipping destination and applicable tax requirements.
Sales tax may vary depending on:
-
State
-
County
-
City
-
Local tax jurisdiction
-
Product category
-
Applicable exemptions
Customers claiming a tax exemption may be required to provide valid documentation before the exemption can be applied.
A tax exemption cannot be guaranteed after an order has already been completed unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Import Duties and Customs Charges
For eligible orders delivered within the contiguous United States, the final amount displayed at checkout includes all applicable import duties and customs clearance charges handled by Merrlane or its logistics providers.
Customers will not be required to pay additional import duties or customs clearance fees to the carrier upon delivery.
This provision does not include optional services separately requested by the customer, such as:
-
Expedited delivery
-
White-glove delivery
-
Special handling
-
Storage
-
Redelivery
-
Address correction
-
Other optional carrier services
Any optional charge must be clearly disclosed and accepted before the related service is confirmed.
Discounts and Promotional Codes
Promotional codes and discounts are subject to the conditions displayed with the applicable offer.
A promotion may be subject to:
-
An expiration date
-
A minimum purchase requirement
-
Product or category exclusions
-
A one-use limitation
-
Customer eligibility requirements
-
Restrictions on combining offers
Only one promotional code may be applied when the offer terms prohibit combining promotions.
Discounts have no cash value and generally cannot be applied retroactively to a completed order unless Merrlane expressly agrees otherwise.
If a discount is incorrectly applied because of a genuine technical error, Merrlane will contact the customer before making a material change to the order.
The customer may choose to proceed under the correct disclosed terms or cancel the affected order for a full refund.
Order Verification and Fraud Prevention
To protect customers and prevent unauthorized payment activity, Merrlane and its payment or fraud-prevention providers may review certain orders.
A difference between the billing and shipping addresses does not automatically mean that an order is fraudulent.
However, additional verification may be requested when a payment or security system identifies a material concern, such as:
-
A payment authorization failure
-
Repeated unsuccessful payment attempts
-
Information identified by a payment provider as potentially unauthorized
-
Unusual transaction activity
-
A significant inconsistency in order or payment information
-
A request from the card issuer or payment provider
-
A high-value or unusually large transaction
-
Other activity reasonably associated with fraud prevention
If verification is required, Merrlane may contact the customer through:
-
An email from the official Merrlane domain
-
The telephone number provided with the order
-
A secure request issued through the payment provider
Merrlane will request only information reasonably necessary to verify the order.
Merrlane will not ask customers by email to provide:
-
A complete payment card number
-
A card security code
-
An online banking password
-
A digital-wallet password
-
A one-time banking security code intended only for the customer
After the requested information is successfully verified, the order will continue to fulfillment as promptly as reasonably possible.
If payment authorization cannot be confirmed, fraud is reasonably suspected, or the requested verification is not provided within a reasonable period, Merrlane may cancel the order and issue a full refund of any successfully collected amount to the original payment method.
No cancellation fee will be charged when an order is canceled because payment verification could not be completed.
Failed or Declined Payments
A payment may be declined for reasons controlled by the customer’s bank, card issuer, payment provider, or fraud-prevention system.
Possible reasons include:
-
Incorrect payment information
-
Insufficient funds
-
An expired payment method
-
Billing-address verification failure
-
Bank security restrictions
-
Transaction limits
-
Payment-provider service interruptions
-
Suspected unauthorized use
Merrlane may not receive the specific reason for a decline.
Customers whose payment is declined may:
-
Review the payment information
-
Try another payment method displayed at checkout
-
Contact their bank or payment provider
-
Contact Merrlane for general checkout assistance
Merrlane cannot override a decline issued by an independent bank or payment provider.
Duplicate, Pending, or Unrecognized Charges
If a customer sees what appears to be a duplicate charge, one entry may be a temporary authorization and the other may be the completed transaction.
Temporary authorizations are generally released automatically by the financial institution when they are not captured.
The timing of that release depends on the bank or payment provider.
If two completed charges were posted for one order, contact support@merrlane.com and provide:
-
The order number
-
The dates and amounts of the charges
-
The payment method used
-
A screenshot or statement with sensitive account information concealed
Merrlane will investigate the transaction records and correct any verified duplicate charge.
If a customer does not recognize a transaction, the customer should contact both Merrlane and the applicable financial institution promptly.
Payment Errors
If a payment error, failed transaction, incorrect charge, duplicate completed charge, or other billing problem occurs, contact support@merrlane.com.
Merrlane will review the available order and transaction records and provide assistance according to:
-
The payment provider’s processing rules
-
The customer’s bank or card-issuer procedures
-
Merrlane’s applicable policies
-
Applicable law
Customers should not email complete card numbers, security codes, banking passwords, or other highly sensitive payment credentials.
Order Cancellations
Customers may request a full cancellation within 48 hours after purchase, provided the order has not entered shipment preparation or been dispatched.
A cancellation request is not confirmed until Merrlane provides written confirmation.
If an order has already shipped, it can no longer be canceled. An eligible return may be requested after delivery under the Merrlane Return and Refund Policy.
If Merrlane is unable to fulfill a paid order because of verified inventory unavailability, a material technical error, payment failure, an unsupported destination, or another genuine fulfillment issue, Merrlane will notify the customer and issue a full refund for the canceled item or order.
Merrlane does not charge a cancellation fee when Merrlane cancels an order because it cannot be fulfilled.
Refunds
Approved refunds are generally issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.
Refunds may relate to:
-
Approved order cancellations
-
Approved product returns
-
Verified duplicate charges
-
Confirmed lost shipments
-
Fulfillment errors
-
Other approved resolutions
After a returned product is received and inspected, an approved refund is generally processed by Merrlane within 3–5 business days.
Once Merrlane submits the refund, the customer’s bank or payment provider generally requires an additional 5–10 business days to post the funds.
The exact posting time is controlled by the customer’s financial institution.
Merrlane cannot guarantee or accelerate the bank’s posting period after the refund has been successfully submitted.
Refund eligibility, return shipping responsibility, deductions, and return conditions are described in the Merrlane Return and Refund Policy.
Refund Method
Refunds will normally be issued to the original payment method.
If the original payment method is closed, expired, or otherwise unavailable, the customer should first contact the applicable bank or payment provider because that institution may still be able to route the refund correctly.
An alternative refund method may be used only when:
-
The original method cannot receive the refund
-
The payment provider permits an alternative
-
The customer’s identity and entitlement to the funds can be reasonably verified
-
The alternative complies with applicable law and fraud-prevention requirements
Merrlane will not require a customer to accept store credit instead of a monetary refund when a monetary refund is required under the applicable policy or law.
PayPal and Digital Wallets
Payments made through PayPal, Google Pay, Shop Pay, or another displayed digital wallet may be subject to the wallet provider’s own authorization, security, and refund procedures.
The payment provider may display:
-
Its own transaction identifier
-
A stored shipping address
-
A stored billing address
-
A separate payment notification
-
A pending authorization
Customers should review the information displayed by the wallet provider before submitting the order.
Refunds for wallet payments are generally returned through the same wallet and underlying funding method.
Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Customers are encouraged to contact support@merrlane.com before opening a payment dispute so that Merrlane has an opportunity to review and resolve the issue.
This request does not restrict a customer’s lawful right to:
-
Report an unauthorized transaction
-
Contact a bank or payment provider
-
File a payment dispute
-
Exercise any applicable consumer-protection right
When a chargeback or payment dispute is opened, Merrlane may provide the payment provider with relevant records, such as:
-
Order information
-
Customer communications
-
Tracking information
-
Delivery confirmation
-
Refund records
-
Applicable website policies
Merrlane will not submit false or misleading evidence in response to a payment dispute.
Policy Consistency
This Payment Policy should be read together with the:
-
Terms of Service
-
Shipping Policy
-
Return and Refund Policy
-
Privacy Policy
If a payment-related issue is also governed by another Merrlane policy, the more specific applicable provision will control, subject to mandatory consumer rights.
